Bike news roundup: Beer Bikes! (can we please get one?)

CAN SEATTLE PLEASE GET A BEER BIKE?!?!?!?!?! Whatever laws might get in the way, we need to change (hat tip BikeHugger):

Sound Transit has new bike parking. Also, new bike manual coming and, a little bird told me they are working on instructional videos about taking your bike on their buses, light rail and commuter rail.

Sure, sure, BikeWorks does lots of nice things for the community and restores your faith in humanity just when you think you’ve lost it … but their deals are freaking great! Just ask Josh at Publicola.

Fiets of Parenthood was last weekend. Here’s coverage from Car Free Days (now I want gelato…)

Disk Break Ninja Star!

Bikestravaganza was just in town, and Joel, one of the presenters, was the founder of Microcosm Publishing. That reminds me, Chainbreaker is the best bike book I’ve ever read. It’s got essays AND it’s a fantastic repair manual (unless you ride expensive new bikes, which I don’t). Imagine a repair manual you want to read cover-to-cover. Yeah. Awesome.

There’s a bike that tweets. “Made two pots of Tri-Flow this morning and still feeling squeaky. I hate Mondays! #firstworldproblems”… OK, it didn’t say that.

This is an open thread. Speak your minds. Also, this is probably the only post for today, since I am busy working on The Lonely Kazoo (7 p.m. tonight at the Fremont Abbey). Come!

The Times reports that a cyclist was hit by a pickup in North Seattle. They also report he wasn’t wearing a helmet and he ran the red light. Ugh. All sympathies to the truck driver.

From what I understand, the biker is very hurt. Let’s all send him our best vibes and wish him a speedy recovery.
