It sounds like we need someone to fill that *role*, but I don’t like the *title* for 2 main reasons:

    1. I’m assuming the bike mayor won’t have the same level of power as the normal mayor, even among things directly related to cycling. If a bike mayor couldn’t influence laws, get new streets built, or effect the budget, why call them a mayor?

    2. If “X Mayor” becomes a thing we might have Streets Mayor, Bus Mayor, Port Mayor, Seatac Mayor (oh wait…).

As awful as it is, I think it’s why we have the “Czar” titles. It connotes the highest level person in charge of a specific topic – independent of their actual title and role in an organization.

  2. A bike mayor? Unfortunately none of my bikes are old enough to vote yet.
