Sunny day gives preview of biggest Seattle biking year ever

There was a clear jump in the number of people riding bikes today. Warm weather and sunny skies can fill the streets with bikes like nothing else. Welcome back, fair weather bikers! We missed you.

I ran into Meg, above, chilling on this bench in the park behind the old T.T. Minor school (now Hamlin Robinson School). She biked her kid to the playground in her bike trailer, which she said she uses year-round. She just doesn’t take it anywhere “sketchy.”

With the number of bikers in Seattle growing each year, I can’t wait to see all the new people out there riding. And for all you fair weather folks, give 30 Days of Biking a shot all next month. It could be a great way to get over that hump and start riding no matter the weather.
