Enjoy an evening celebrating the vivid wonder of California Golde, a short film about riding bikes in California and all the hardships that come with big, hard, ambitious tours. The warm fuzz of a technicolor California summer captured with Kodak super 8 from the saddle of touring bicycles. Set amidst the bittersweet backdrop of a smoky Sequoia National Forest, California Golde conceptually spins a psychedelic yarn of analog exploration and recreation in the digital age, within the thralls of the deadly 2018 fire season.
Special guests: Ronnie Romance and Good Ol Nam
With a bonus screening of Drawn Away, brought to you by Seattle brands Swift Industries and Coal Headwear featuring the illustrator Chris McNally on a four day bike camping adventure escaping San Francsico. The themes we set out to explore on our Bay Area tour were all about harnessing close-to-home adventures that stem from the freedom that bikes offer; about uncovering the hidden treasures and secret spots at the interface of the built and natural environments, where urban bleeds into rural, and rural into wilderness; about slowing the pace and making space for inspiration and creativity; and about the importance of building community one pedal stroke–and one brush stroke–at a time!
