Alleycat Acres birthday party to help kickstart spring bike ride

Alleycat Acres is both launching a new farm at MLK and Cherry in the Central District and launching a new bike team as the urban farming collective heads into their third year of transforming urban space. To celebrate both, they are throwing a birthday bash at LTD Art Gallery (Pike and Bellevue on Capitol Hill) Thursday starting at 6 p.m.

The organization’s second annual Streets and Beets fundraising ride is March 3 (Seattle Bike Blog is a supporting partner). You can register for the ride today for $25. Each rider pledges to raise $100 by the day of the ride to go toward Alleycat’s ambitious $25,000 goal.

The 70-mile ride will start at the MLK FAME Community Center in Madison Valley and end at the United People’s Farm in Auburn.

More on the Thursday birthday bash, from Alleycat Acres:

Who: Team Alleycat + Alleycat Acres, an urban farming organization dedicated to (re)connecting people, place + produce through building community run farms on underutilzed space in the city we call home – Seattle.

What: A birthday celebration for Alleycat Acres + fundraiser for Seattle’s newest, most bad ass bike team during Capitol Hill’s Blitz Art Walk.

Why: We’re turning 2! And we want to celebrate and say thanks to everyone who has made this organization what it is. We’ll drink, we’ll dance and we’ll have our cake and eat it too.

Suggested Donation: $5-25 at door, to help launch our bike team and kickstart our spring fundraiser.

Extra special thanks to Shavi Snax for our bday cake + Georgetown Brewery for providing delicious beer to celebrate our birthday!

  2. […] Beets ad pop up at the top of the right-hand sidebar. That’s because we’re a partner in Alleycat Acres’ second annual fundraiser ride, which leaves Seattle March 3 for a supported 70-mile ride to Auburn and back with lunch in the […]
