You know what’s even cooler than kids reading books?

… kids reading books and then GETTING A BIKE!!!!!!!!

Seattle Public Library is hosting Bikes for Books again starting October 16. Basically, kids read books, then go to their library and give the librarian an oral book report. They are entered into a raffle once for every three books they read between Oct 16 and Dec 16.

The Seattle Public Library hosts ‘Bikes for Books’ reading program beginning Oct. 16
Children are invited to read books for a chance to win a bike. The Seattle Public Library will host the “Bikes for Books” reading program from Saturday, Oct. 16 to Thursday, Dec. 16. A celebration and prize drawing will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, at the Fremont Branch, 731 N. 35th St.

“Bikes for Books” is open to children in first through third grade, and fourth through fifth grade. Participants are allowed to enter their names for the drawing once for every three books they read between Oct. 16 and Dec. 16. Each entry will require a short oral book report to a librarian. One girl and one boy from each age category will win a bike, helmet and lock (four winners total). Winners must be present at the Dec. 18 celebration to collect their prizes. All participants will receive certificates of accomplishment.

“Bikes for Books” is sponsored by the Masonic Doric Lodge No. 92 in Fremont. The goal of the program is to inspire children to read.

For more information, call the Fremont Branch at 206-684-4084.
