After a pause over the winter months, we are excited to welcome back our monthly Family Bike Happy Hour rides (3rd Saturday of every month at noon). What better way to get ready for Bike To Work/School Month (May)?!

For the April ride we are going to take a ride on the Cross Kirkland Corridor – Official Interim Trail to explore opportunities for kids (and some who are not kids anymore) to use the CKC for getting to school.

Please consider the ride length when deciding which of your kids to bring with you. Kids of all ages are welcome, but you might want to consider having younger kids in a trailer or trail-a-bike for this ride. Of course if you are interested in one of the schools along the middle of the ride, you are more than welcome to ride with the group to that point and then turn around and meet us at the lunch spot.

Date/time: Sat. Apr. 18th 12:00 – 3pm
Start: Emerson High School, 10903 N.E. 53rd St. (meet in the parking lot off of NE 53rd St closest to the Northstar Middle School buildings)
Ride Turnaround: Up to Kirkland Middle School
Destination: Picnic lunch at Marina Park – bring your own or get take-out from any of the amazing downtown restaurants (if the weather is not conducive to a picnic, we will instead dine inside at Zeeks Pizza Kirkland 124 Park Ln)
Route: https://goo.gl/maps/mi8tf (3.2 miles each way)
All ages abilities. No drop. No one gets left behind
Don’t forget: Helmets! We welcome and encourage kids, but please no training wheels/stabilizers. Kids under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Note: There is a detour of the CKC around the Google campus where both the trail and the new building are under construction. The map does not show the detour but we expect it to be minor and will update with details on our Facebook event page as the date of the ride approaches.
