Recent Events
Bike Everywhere Day May 20, 2016 – GPG hosted a table at Greenwood Park
Neighborhood Street Fund grant proposals – The Northwest District Council met on May 25th for presentations of our grant proposals. Of the 5 projects advanced by the NWDC, LHG / GPG members were applicants for 4! Congrats to all and good luck making it through the next round! Here are the 4 projects:
Northgate Elementary Sidewalks Suzi applied for NSF grant for sidewalks along Meridian Ave and N 117th St..
N 105th Street Sidewalk improvement and traffic calming Jonathan submitted an application for N 105th Street between Greenwood/Holman and 3rd Ave NW.
LHG/GPG’s Safer Crossing of Aurora Ave N. for 1,700 Students attending New Schools on N. 90th Street was combined with ALUV’s Aurora Avenue Pedestrian Safety Improvements
LHG/GPG submitted Safer School Crossings on N. 90th Street at 3 New Schools
Feet First walk of Northgate – May 25th, Feet First sponsored a walk in the Northgate Area
Mayor’s Find-it Fix-it Walk for the Aurora Licton Springs /Urban Village area was May 31st
Pop-Up Parklet at Coyle’s Bakeshop – Justin, Cathy and Robin met with Coyle’s on June 2nd to discuss activating the corner in front of their shop at N 83rd St and Greenwood Ave
2. Upcoming Events
Walk with Councilmember Mike O’Brien – Monday, June 13, at 5:30 PM. Meet at the corner of N. 90th Street and Stone Ave. N. All are invited to a Safe Routes to Schools walk with Council Member O’Brien to explore needed street safety improvements at the new elementary and middle school campus on N. 90th for 1,660 kids. We had a similar walk with Council Member Juarez in April.
GPG Spring Kickoff Event – Events could include picnic at Greenwood Park, Play Streets, scavenger hunt, pub crawl, tactical urbanism (humps/diverters), pop-up/transportable temporary parklets
Annual Night Out on August 2nd. Seattle Department of Neighborhoods has funds to support your event.The Small Sparks Fund provides funding for neighborhood-initiated projects that promote community engagement and relationship building. Groups can request up to $1,000 to help fund Night Out activities such as outreach materials, cultural entertainment, music, food, and kids’ activities, to name a few. The deadline for applications is Friday, July 1. Registration with the Department of Neighborhoods ends June 29.
Seafair Parade 2016 – July 27, 2016, 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM – reach out to G&O Family Cyclery to join forces for this year’s parade.
