Landslide closes Burke-Gilman near 125th, Seattle Parks hopes to reopen by PM commute

This just in from Seattle Parks:

Rainy weather means the Burke-Gilman is prone to get covered by slides. It happens every year in North Seattle due to eroding hillsides along the old railroad right-of-way. So be prepared for detours.

2014: the year we raised the white flags on The Burke, giving it up to the 25mph bikers. Or did Parks only have a spare “bike lane closed” sign? :)

That’s my guess. Either don’t have or couldn’t find a “trail closed” sign.

I’m happy Seattle Parks Department recognized the trail serves a transportation function, not just a recreation function.
