Thursday: Via6 will buy a chicken and waffle breakfast for people biking

The folks behind a massive bike-focused development in the Denny Triangle want to buy you chicken and a waffle for breakfast Thursday. All you have to do is bike to McGraw Square between 7:30 and 9:30 a.m.

Via6 is a massive project currently under-construction at 6th and Lenora. The future home of Velo Bike Shop, Via6 hopes many of the people living in their 654 apartments will choose to walk, bike and take transit instead of owning a car. The project will include 434 underground car parking stalls and 250 bike parking stalls.

Via 6 describes itself as a “vertical community,” and bikes are a key part of that vision.

Man, the one day of the year I absolutely have to drive :(

  2. Waffle and chicken? That strikes me as an unusual combo, but perhaps I’m slow about these new food trends.

chicken and Waffles has been around for a long long time. more popular in the south.

Another secret folks out west haven’t figured out yet: Pancakes are better than bread for grilled cheese sandwiches.

      1. I’ve never tried it, but it sounds implausible — good old white bread is ideal for absorbing butter, toasting to a crisp, and sticking to cheese.

I’ll grant that pancakes probably work better than the whole-grain sprouty nutty bread that Seattle yuppies typically eat (myself included).
