In response to the unending epidemic of traffic violence in our city and no real action from the mayor or City Council, Seattle’s Critical Mass is holding a protest event on Tuesday, August 16 and is inviting safe streets advocates to participate.
The Transportation and Seattle Public Utilities Committee (chaired by CM Alex Pedersen) will be having a public hearing on Tuesday morning at 9:30 am, so the group wants the committee to understand that this epidemic of traffic violence can no longer be ignored.
If you’re on bicycle, meet at Westlake Park at 8:30 am. The group will ride to City Hall around 9 am. If you are not using a bicycle, meet the group at City Hall.
The group will hang up posters and banners with the names of people who have died from traffic violence across the street from City Hall on the anti-homeless fencing used to block the sidewalk. Participants are encouraged to create posters and attach them to the fence.
