Perhaps one of the greatest endurance cycling events on the planet, the Transcontinental Race is full of challenging climbs, great scenery, interesting culture, big trucks, and angry dogs giving chase in the night. The TCR is an unsupported and single stage race, approximately 4000 km long, which goes through up to 16 countries in Western and Eastern Europe. Since 2015 the race has started on the Muur in Geraardsbergen, Belgium and finished in either Turkey or Greece. Racers are required to pass though four checkpoints en route to the finish. Checkpoints have included both famous cycling landmarks such as Mont Ventoux, Monte Grappa, Passo Giau, and the Furkapass- as well as lesser known venues such as Mount Lovćen (Montenegro), High Tatras (Slovakia), Karkonosze Pass (Poland), and Bjelašnica (Bosnia). Please join Doug Migden to hear about the last four editions of this great race. Doug is one of only a few who have finished the TCR four or more times. The presentation will take the audience through the highs and lows of racing a bicycle solo across a continent.
