2014 SR 520 design work

As you may know, this summer the city of Seattle and WSDOT have been working together to evaluate key design features of the SR 520 corridor in Seattle. The intent of our work has been to address key topics that remained at the conclusion of the 2012 Seattle Community Design Process (SCDP). As you may recall, the SCDP was a robust public and stakeholder involvement process that resulted in well-supported refinements to west side project elements. However, important decisions remained about the Montlake lid design, Portage Bay Bridge design, and Second Bascule Bridge.

This summer, WSDOT, the city of Seattle and a team of design professionals have been working in close consultation with the Seattle Design Commission to build directly from the results of the SCDP. We are excited to share the latest design renderings with the community, answer questions and hear your feedback.

At the Sept. 11 meeting, you can learn about the overall corridor vision and refined design features of the:

· New Portage Bay Bridge (such as bridge type and the option for a bicycle/pedestrian path)

· New Montlake lid (such as functionality and connectivity)

· Multimodal connections on and around the corridor in Seattle

You can also chat with staff about progress across the SR 520 corridor, including Eastside and floating bridge construction, upcoming West Approach Bridge North construction, and various mitigation projects.

Please share this information with your neighbors and other community organizations. We look forward to seeing you on Sept. 11!
