Ride with Senior Ladies On Wheels (SLOW) to explore secret street-end beaches and other hidden public delights. All riders of all ages and identities welcome, as long as you ride SLOW! Starting at the Northwest African American Museum on the I-90 lid, we will follow the I-90 trail to Lake Washington Blvd. We’ll share the road with cars – but people who drive there expect bikes and are reasonably courteous. We’ll pause in Madison Park to buy sack lunches (or bring one!); then we’ll picnic at a very special secret beach (no nude bathers, btw). On these rides the slowest rider sets the pace – don’t worry, we won’t hurry! There’s no shame in getting off your bike awhile to climb a hill or just to take in the scenery. Rain won’t cancel – but may lead to a shorter ride.
This is Cascade Bicycle Club Free Group Ride. It’s a social ride with experienced ride leaders to grow your confidence with group riding. It is free and open to everyone. The route consists of beautiful trails, a few low-traffic streets, and scenery.
“Easy Pace” is under 10 mph on flat surface without any headwind. Average walking speed is around 3 mph, so we will be about 3 times faster!. If you aren’t sure about your pace, please join us anyway. We will help you find your way back if you need to return to the start early. Carrying ORCA card is another good option.
