Ride SLOW with Senior Ladies On Wheels for a social bike ride to Jack Block Park tucked behind the Port’s industrial facilities near the Alki Trail. ALL RIDERS WELCOME, NEW RIDERS ESPECIALLY – old, young, male, female and everything in between. Just be sure to ride SLOW! As always, the slowest rider sets the pace – don’t worry, we won’t hurry! We’ll probably need about 3-4 hours for the round trip. There’s no shame in getting off your bike awhile to climb a hill (there’s a short climb on the lower Spokane Street Bridge trail), or you may just want to take in the scenery. Starting at the Northwest African American Museum on the I-90 lid, we will follow the I-90 trail, the Hiawatha Greenway and a stretch of sidewalk along busy Dearborn to reach the Elliott Bay Trail, which connects across the lower Spokane Street Bridge with the Alki Trail. Depending on our mood and the weather, we may stop at Luna Park Cafe for lunch, or eat a sandwich in the park – bring a sandwich, or buy one at a stop along the way. Rain won’t cancel – but may lead to a shorter ride. We always stay together and support each other.

This is Cascade Bicycle Club Free Group Ride. It’s a social ride with experienced ride leaders to grow your confidence with group riding. It is free and open to everyone. The route consists of beautiful trails, a few low-traffic streets, and scenery.

“Easy Pace” is under 10 mph on flat surface without any headwind. Average walking speed is around 3 mph, so we will be about 3 times faster!. If you aren’t sure about your pace, please join us anyway. We will help you find your way back if you need to return to the start early. Carrying ORCA card is another good option.

You should dress appropriately for the weather, but you do not need spandex or other specialized bike gear. All you need is a working bike and a helmet. If you haven’t ridden your bike for quite some time, please do a ABC Check (link below) or take it to your local bike shop a few days prior to the ride date.

Please arrive 20 minutes before the published start time to ready your bike, check in and participate in the safety and ride briefing. We will go over hand signals and what we say during the ride to keep outselves safe.

Register -Follow the link under “Ticket URL” to register and sign and e-waiver. . If you do not have an account with Cascade, it is free to create an account. If you cannot make the ride, you do not need to unregister. If you do not register, you will need to sign a paper waiver before the ride.

Weather – Rain will not cancel the ride, but we may choose a shorter route if weather is especially unpleasant. The ride leader will be at the start regardless of the weather to negotiate with those who show up.
