We are excited to collaborate with Cut Seattle and NonWhiteWorks to incorporate community experiences and input into our Rainier Avenue S traffic safety and awareness efforts. For the next phase of #RainierTrafficSafety, we’ll partner with various community groups and members on effective messaging.
On behalf of SDOT, we would like to invite you to join us in a focus group on November 15, (6 – 7:30 PM). While this is a public event, registration is limited, and the event location will be shared once you register. Please note, the business hosting the focus group is wheelchair accessible, but bathroom access is limited. We continue to make engineering enhancements along Rainier Ave S including giving pedestrians a head start when crossing the street through traffic signal timing; and reducing the speed limit to 25MPH along portions of the corridor, but we need your help! Along with other Rainier Valley residents and businesses, we’d like you to take part in the conversation about intentional community inclusive messaging.
We’re committed to improving safety and bus reliability on Rainier Avenue South. We are currently in Phase 2 of our efforts to reach zero traffic fatalities on Rainier Avenue S by 2030. But we still have a lot of work to do! With your input and our implementation, we can make Rainier Avenue S safer for all.
