Ride for the Roses alleycat face @ Maple Leaf Reservoir Park

Although horse-racing is a fairly despicable industry, the Kentucky Derby is one helluva month-long party that transcends the fastest 2 minutes in sports. Join me the first Saturday in May for a Derby-themed alleycat that will highlight and celebrate the best aspects of this southern affair.

We’ll drink (too many) mint juleps, eat derby pie, wear fancy clothes and giant hats, name our thoroughbred steeds and place bets on all the things (side bets strongly encouraged!). The winner will be draped with a garland of roses (and some other prize tbd) and be forced to prance around for a victory lap in front of us all. The winner will not necessarily be the person who has the fastest actual time.

**Start is at Maple Leaf Reservoir Park. Registration opens at 12:30, race will begin at 1pm. Bring $5, a lock, pen, drawl and southern charm.

**Dress for the grandstands or the infield, whichever floats your thoroughbred goat.

**Race will finish at Flying Bike Cooperative Brewery in Greenwood.

Yeehaw, y’all!
