The 5th Annual Major Taylor Birthday Ride Celebration will take place on Saturday, November 28, 2015. Marshall (Major) Taylor was born on November 26th and cycling clubs across the USA will ride on November 28th to honor his legacy.
Come and celebrate with us. Rainier Riders Cycling Club invites you and other cyclist to share this day in remembrance of one of the world’s greatest cyclist of all times Marshall “Major” Taylor.
Marshall “Major” Taylor during his life time from (1878 – 1932), stood as one of the first African-American athletes to win a world record championship in any sport and overcame more than his share of racism in route to becoming one of the greatest cyclists of all time. Taylor stood for sportsmanship, racial equality and a Devotion to his own spiritual beliefs . As the author of his autobiography, Major Taylor also understood the value and importance of a good education. After retiring from his cycling career in 1910, Marshall “Major” Taylor was an avid spokesman in his community on the value of living a healthy life style. To this, the Rainier Riders Cycling Club and the National Brotherhood of Cyclists salutes one of sports’ greatest heroes, Marshall “Major” Taylor.

4 = Very hilly
