DESCRIPTION
Join us for a tour and workshop to discuss the future of South King Street in Seattle’s Chinatown-International District. The focus of the workshop portion will explore comprehensive solutions to re-imagine and enhance the safety, access, travel options, and activity on and around this historic street. By using upcoming neighborhood greenway enhancements and national examples of streets for people, we will explore how to reduce the gap between current limits and ideal solutions. What does ‘GOOD” look like for our streets? We look forward to exploring these possibilities together!
BACKGROUND
In dense, urban environments, we need to preserve our public spaces and streets for the many. The planned construction of Seattle’s King Street Greenway is an opportunity for the City of Seattle’s Department of Transportation, neighborhood community groups, and sustainability think-tanks to collaborate on a demonstration project that can expand what our city-designated greenways and green streets can be.
Join CNU Conference attendees, local Seattle NGOs, and community members in a tour and workshop exploring how organizations are collaborating and prioritizing multi-purpose projects within their rights-of-way. This will be an opportunity to share insights, successes, and challenges from your own efforts while supporting the local community in enhancing its own right-of-way.
