EarthCorps is partnering with the University of Washington to restore Kincaid Ravine, one of the largest remaining natural areas on campus located along the Burke-Gilman Trail at the NE 45th St bridge. The forest and wetlands of Kincaid Ravine are critical to reducing storm water runoff and flooding of the areas below while providing habitat to birds and other wildlife. This project kicks off in early 2014 with invasive plant removal and native shrub/tree plantings to begin re-establishing a sustainable forest ecosystem, followed by site stewardship in the years to come. This is a great opportunity for trail users to make a dramatic difference in the health of this urban forest – join us for a volunteer work party or stop by and say hi when you see our crews hard at work!
