Please join The Bikery as we create a safe, welcoming space for all people who identify as women, trans* and femme to work on our own bicycles in a friendly, supportive environment. We’ll come together and share an evening of bike maintenance and repair tips with full access to The Bikery’s tools, work space, and bike repair stands.
No previous bike knowledge is necessary.
The Bikery empowers Seattle bicyclists and encourages cycling through collaborative hands-on education, social engagement, and fun.
*More info on this event and the need for it:
Bicycle maintenance has traditionally been an overwhelmingly (cis)male-dominated area. It is our goal to help teach individuals who have been marginalized or intimidated in this setting to be knowledgeable and confident working on their bikes in a welcoming environment.
This event is open to anyone who identifies as female, transgender, femme, genderqueer, trans-masculine, trans-feminine, or feels that their socialization or treatment as a woman/transperson*/femme has impeded their participation in bicycle mechanics.
On a daily basis, the Bikery strives to be welcoming to all people and create a safe and welcoming enviornment. We also recognize the need to create an additional space specifically for women, trans*, and femme identified people.
If you are not women, trans*, femme identified, please, become an ALLY. Also, please visit us during our regular hours.
