As you know, October 2nd is a very big day for North Seattle. Light rail is coming to Northgate and the new pedestrian bridge across I-5 will connect the station to Licton Springs, ALUV, Greenwood, and all neighborhoods west. The Department of Transportation will be hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony of this new bridge – the John Lewis Memorial Bridge – the morning of Saturday, October 2nd (see the official invitation below).
Join your neighbors for a family-friendly bike ride to the bridge ceremony, which begins at 10am.
Coming from the south? Join the bike train as it heads north form Balmont/Frelard along 6th Ave NW.
Coming from the west? Join up at Sandel Park before connecting to the bike train as it heads towards the station along N 100th Street.

In addition to SDOT speeches, photo opps, a bike-centered scavenger hunt, and some free snacks and/or coffee, members of Seattle Neighborhood Greenways and the Aurora Reimagined Coalition will be handing out stickers, answering questions, and ready to talk about the future of transportation in North Seattle.
After you’ve checked out the new light rail station, stop by Oak Tree Village (100th/Aurora) for a basketball clinic and 3v3 tournament – hosted by the community organization For North Seattle!
Hope to see you there!
