If you live, work, or travel through the area near Aurora between 85th and 105th, take a moment to give feedback on the draft homezone. This homezone will make walking and biking through the neighborhood safer, increase livability, and create the groundwork for more improvements in the future.
A group of neighbors has been advising the Department of Transportation for the past year on what sort of improvements should be prioritized. Learn more about this draft homezone and share your thoughts at a drop-in community event at Lantern Brewing (95th & Aurora) on Wednesday, August 23 from 4pm to 6pm.
One very clear priority that emerged from the Home Zone Walk Audits last Summer was the need for more trees in the neighborhood. As part of this homezone, SDOT will be coordinating through DirtCorps free street trees for neighbors to plant in the homezone. Come to the community event at Lantern Brewing on Aug. 23rd and sign up for a free tree! NW Greenways will then plan volunteer planting parties over two weekends to help plant the trees in front of neighbors’ houses.
Click here if you’d like to learn more about this Home Zone and be sure to come to the community event on August 23rd. In addition to the Aurora Licton Home Zone, neighbors will be on hand to talk about the Aurora Ave Project, the NE Greenwood Homezone and the Bitter Lake Homezone (those blue barrels you may have seen in the area), and other important projects happening in NW Seattle.
