Council Vacancy Public Forum

Forum location: City Hall, 600 Fourth Avenue, Seattle — Bertha Knight Landes Room (Floor 1)
Television/Online Access: the public forum will be recorded and televised by Seattle Channel and online
*In accordance with Council Bill 119138, “City Inside/Out” host Brian Callanan will moderate a Public Forum to allow community groups and audience members to ask the qualified applicants questions.
*An applicant must participate in the public forum and appear before the Council at the April 17, 2019 meeting to be eligible for appointment (SMC 3.93.010.F).

**PLEASE NOTE: THE LISTED TIME ESTIMATES COULD VARY SIGNIFICANTLY, BASED UPON THE NUMBER OF APPLICANTS ATTENDING, THE NUMBER OF COMMUNITY GROUPS PRESENT, THE NUMBER OF AUDIENCE QUESTIONS, AND THE LENGTH OF ANSWERS***
5:00 pm: Doors open at Bertha Knight Landes Room
5:15 pm: Ask applicants and community organizations to arrive by this time to sign in
5:30 pm: Moderator Callanan starts forum with introduction and talk about format
5:35 pm: 90 second introduction by each of the qualified applicants
6:00 pm: Moderator asks each candidate 3 questions compiled from group of community questions. Each applicant gets 1.5 minutes to respond
7:15 pm: Community organization questions
8:00 pm: Session for questions from audience. Moderator will ask questions of three randomly picked applicants. Each applicant gets 1 minute to respond.
8:30 pm: 60 second closing remarks by each applicant
8:45 – 9:00 pm: Public Forum ends

As part of the Council’s process to develop a Public Forum with the community, approximately 18 community organizations either submitted questions or expressed interest in participating at the forum. Our office compiled all the questions into one document and the questions have been posted on the Council Vacancy website http://www.seattle.gov/cityclerk/council-vacancy#questions.
