Flying Wheels_2016EventArt_RGB_-12Details from Cascade:

Flying Wheels weaves its way through Western Washington’s Snoqualmie Valley. This fertile valley is home to many organic farms producing some of the area’s highest quality produce, meats and cheeses. You will spend your day rolling from the valley floor to the ridges that define this beautiful place, a peaceful getaway not far from the city. New this year, riders will also receive a free finisher meal from one of our finish line festival food vendors as part of registration.

There are four different riding options for the event. Riders can choose the 23-, 45,-, 63-, or 104-mile routes. The 23-mile route heads from Marymoor Park around Lake Sammamish. Staying close to the shore it is mostly flat with just a few ups.

The 45-, 63- and 104-mile routes have a good number of hills and each option will have a decision point at which you can decide to shorten your ride or continue for the bigger mileage. It is a great opportunity to test your fitness especially if you are training up to ride 200+ miles to Portland or 180+ miles to Vancouver! Click here for maps and elevation info.

New this year, the route will be changing to take us off of some of the higher traffic roads. Much of the route will remain the same, but rather than heading north to Snohomish out of Duvall, we’ll be heading south to North Bend out of Fall City and adding some extra riding on the west side of Lake Sammamish. Check out the route page for the full new route.

Who does your registration support?

Did you know Flying Wheels is a fundraiser? Your registration fee helps Cascade provide bicycle education programs for children, families, school groups and everyone else who wants to ride a bike. It also helps us advocate for safer, more connected bicycle infrastructure throughout the state and region. And thanks to you, we’re able to offer fun and challenging riding events and free group rides every day of the year! Your participation truly helps improve lives through bicycling.

Our events are made possible with support from the local communities through which we ride. In addition to supporting Cascade’s programs, your registration fee helps Cascade give back to these communities and the organizations that thrive there. We’re grateful for all their continued support.

One of our main food stops is Camp Korey located at the beautiful and historic Carnation Farm. Once the main research farm in the valley and namesake of the town it is in, it now is home to Camp Korey whose mission is “to honor the courage, strength, and determination of children living with serious and life-altering medical conditions and their families…”

On this event Cascade Bicycle Club has partnered with Camp Korey to give riders the opportunity to ride on behalf of the community Camp Korey supports. See details of how to ride and raise money for Camp Korey on our registration page.
