Tonight: Phyllis Porter talks biking and activism

Porter has been a strong advocate and friend of Seattle Bike Blog for years. She ran for City Council in District 2 last year and has since resumed her work as an organizer and leader for safe streets.

    Hey Tom,

    Did anybody ever find out where SPD gets their bikes serviced? There are plenty of good bike shops and companies out there. Would rather avoid the ones that contract with SPD.

    Given the consistent multi-week lead time to get a service appointment, I would NOT agree with the characterization that there are “plenty” of shops. Unless people have multiple bikes at their disposal, that’s insufficient to support the use of bikes as a primary means of transportation for those without bike mechanic skills & resources.
    In “normal” years this would be the case leading up to STP, but in 2020 that seems to be the status quo
