Ride your bike, support bike-friendly businesses & donate toys Saturday

holiday-ride-flier-11-16Ride your bike. Shop at bike-friendly businesses. Support survivors of domestic violence.

Join Commute Seattle and Cascade Bicycle Club Saturday for the Seattle Bike Friendly Business Network‘s first Holiday Bike Friendly Ride. Meet up 2 p.m. at Métier (11th and Union) for a group ride to Red Balloon. There you can buy toys that the YMCA will give to kids who have escaped dangerous domestic situations.

The ride should be a fun, family-friendly way to bike around Capitol Hill and the Central District and support community members who need some help this holiday season (Disclosure: My amazing spouse Kelli helped organize this event).

The ride ends at Electric Lady (23rd and Union) for an after party and a chance to buy some gifts for the bike-lovers in your life.

More details:

Double down on doing good this holiday season by biking to local businesses and donating to charity on this family-friendly ride hosted by  Seattle Bike Friendly Business Network.

The ride will begin at Métier Racing & Coffee in Capitol Hill at 2 p.m.  Guests can enjoy complimentary Métier coffee or tea, and beer provided by Peddler Brewing.

Then saddle-up for a short and social bike ride up the Capitol Hill to Red Balloon on 15th Avenue to shop for toys of your choice to donate to women and children who’ve survived domestic violence. Donations will be dropped off at YMCA immediately after the bike ride. Our final stop is Electric Lady (2207 E Union St., Seattle) to check out the amazing electric and family bicycles.

An extra special thanks to Seattle Bike Friendly Business Network sponsoring members: Peddler Brewing, Metier Racing and Coffee and Electric Lady for their support of this ride. If you want more information on how Bikes Mean Business, check out this report from People for Bikes, a national organization founded by bicycle industry leaders.

The Seattle Bike Friendly Business Network is a joint project of Cascade Bicycle Club and Commute Seattle. The goal of the project is to provide support, recognition and tools for businesses who want to promote biking as a smart mode of transportation to employees, commuters, and customers.
