Happy Bike Everywhere Day!
Above is a map of commute stations around the region. Take your time and take the long way to work this morning. And if you don’t have work this morning, even better! The secret of Bike Everywhere Day (formerly Bike to Work Day) is that its more fun if you don’t actually have to go to work.
And don’t forget that you can get a free 24-hour pass to ride Pronto Cycle Share today (unlimited 30-minute trips). So if you still haven’t even tried it, go out of your way to make it happen. Even a trip around the block will at least let you get the feel for it.
To get your free Pronto pass, you need to fill out this very short form online. They will email you a promo code to use at the kiosk.
Aside from the commute stations in the morning, you can also swing by one (or more) after parties this afternoon:
- 5 Bike Everywhere Day After Party hosted by Velo Bike Shop & ViaBike
Sixth Avenue & Blanchard, Downtown Seattle, 4:30–6:30 p.m.
- Bike Everywhere Bash at 192 Brewing in Kenmore, 4–7 p.m.
- Redmond Bike Bash at Redmond Central Connector Park, 4–7 p.m.
More details from Cascade:
F5 Bike Everywhere Day on Friday, May 20 is the best day of the year to be on a bike. Thousands of people across the city, region and state will use pedal power to ride to work, school and everywhere in between. With more than 15,000 people expected to get out on their bikes, F5 Bike Everywhere Day shows what our streets could look like every day if we continue encouraging and investing in bicycling as transportation and recreation.
“The annual increase in people riding bikes on F5 Bike Everywhere Day clearly demonstrates that biking is a joyous and effective way to get around Washington state. This people-powered investment calls for an equal investment from transportation planners and politicians to build a safe, all-ages-and-abilities network of bicycle trails, lanes, boulevards, and new innovative facilities in the state,” said Elizabeth Kiker, Executive Director of Cascade Bicycle Club. “By bicycling together, we make a difference.”
To build a network of support and fun for the thousands of people riding bicycles on F5 Bike Everywhere Day, Cascade Bicycle Club and our local partners will host more than 100 celebration stations along major bike routes in the Puget Sound region, providing encouragement, snacks and swag to riders.
Celebration stations* will provide people the opportunity to:
Pick up a free souvenir
Enter the free drawing for fabulous prizes
Join Cascade Bicycle Club at our once-a-year discounted rate (select stations only)
Ask a bike mechanic to look over your bike or air up your tires
Fuel up with snacks, coffee, or juice
*Offerings vary from station to station.

It’s biker Christmas!
It was an amazingly snacky ride today. I’m working from home today, but I did the ride to work and back just to go out and hit the stations and talk to people.
I TOTALLY MISSED THE AFTER PARTY!!! (Yes, all caps. That’s how shocked I am.)
