Seattle Bike Expo rises from the dead, changes hands, gets a new name and venue

logo3The Seattle Bike Expo is not dead after all.

Cascade Bicycle Club dropped the wintertime multi-day trade show from their 2015 lineup, but now Cascadia Events has picked up the baton and will put on the show with a different name and a new venue.

The Seattle Bike Show will be February 28 and March 1 at CenturyLink Field Event Center along with the Travel, Trips & Adventures Expo. The event will benefit Cascade and, like the Bike Expo, will be both a place for bike companies to show off their wares and a place for presentations, talks and performances.

Readers of this blog will likely be happy to see the easier-to-access downtown location, so no more frustrating, roundabout bike and walk trips to get to the Smith Cove Cruise Terminal. You’ll actually be able to take transit to the event this time, which is a huge upgrade.

Vendors need to register by November 21 to get early bird rates. Cost to enter will be $10 and will get your into both the Bike Show and the Adventures Expo.

More details from Cascade:

Thanks to a new partnership, the Seattle Bike Expo will return for its 25th year. Now known as the Seattle Bike Show, the new event will take place at CenturyLink Field Event Center in Seattle, Feb. 28 through Mar. 1 in conjunction with the Travel, Trips & Adventures Expo.

The Seattle Bike Show will be managed by Cascadia Events of Seattle, with the Cascade Bicycle Club benefiting financially and providing assistance to the show’s content and direction.

“We’re so excited that the Seattle Bike Expo can live on thanks to this partnership,” said Elizabeth Kiker, executive director of Cascade Bicycle Club.  “For 25 years, the Expo has been a great opportunity for the bicycle community to gather and kick off the cycling season.”

While the event has changed locations, attendees and exhibitors alike can still expect the same great opportunities for checking out the latest in bicycling, gear and adventures.

“Cascadia Events is very excited by this new partnership,” said event producer John Tipping. “With help from the Cascade Bicycle Club, we hope to build on the existing strengths while adding new exhibits. Seattle Bike Show vendors will also benefit with the opportunity to market to the Travel, Trips and Adventures Expo attendees.

This is very good news. Good pairing with the adventure travel show.

The new location is wonderful. I am sure that will solve many problems and increase attendance dramatically. The Expo should have been at Century Link field in the first place and now I will go and volunteer for both days.

This would be a great opportunity for Pronto to open a station right there, too.

The fact is that Seattle lacks good mid-sized venues for these types of events, which is what lead to our creative use of hangars at Magnusson Park and various cruise-ship terminals. However, the reasons we left the C-Link after 2003 were many, and very legitimate. The staff were awful, the food (and water!) limited and exorbitantly priced, and the facility policies stifling – just to name a few.
