King County is working on a couple area trails in the coming months, leading to some temporary closures.

Biking Bis has done a great job staying on top of all the closures and schedules. Below is a brief summary (see Biking Bis for more details and maps).

The Cedar River Trail will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday near Maple Valley so the county can repair a bridge over the river. Details from King County:

King County will make important safety repairs to a damaged bridge that carries the Cedar River Trail over the Cedar River near Maple Valley, requiring a two-day closure of the bridge and trail. On Feb. 18-19, the trail will be closed near Lower Dorre Don Way as crews repair a damaged handrail and replace a concrete deck panel on the 268-foot-long structure. There will be no detour route for this closure.

The Preston-Snoqualmie Trail will be closed Feb. 24 – 28 near Lake Alice Road to the county can repair a bridge support and surface deck. Details from King County:

King County must make important safety repairs to an old trestle along the Preston-Snoqualmie Trail near the City of Snoqualmie, leading to a scheduled five-day closure of the trail in late February.

Several rotten structural members of the bridge near Lake Alice Road must be replaced, along with one section of the bridge deck. Because the work requires taking apart a portion of the 192–foot-long structure, King County Parks will close the trail from Feb. 24-28 at the worksite, with no formal detour available.
