Bike News Roundup: Mystery of Vashon’s iconic bike in a tree solved?

I have sorely, sorely neglected my Bike News Roundup responsibilities recently, so I must issue a sincere apology to your boss. Unfortunately, you’re just not going to get any work done for the rest of the day. There’s just too much bikey news to catch up on!

First up, this KOMO report on Vashon’s iconic bike in a tree is completely awesome (even if you think you’ve heard it before, this report will surprise and amaze you):

  1. Double D

    From the Missing Link link:

“In the war between cars and bicycles I try to keep myself out of the crossfire…”

When are we going to stop using “the war between” analogy? It’s a ridiculous term that only adds fuel to the fire. Leave it to Seattle Times to print such garbage. If that section is so bad for cyclists, avoid it, as there are plenty of other options. I have ridden through there many times and if you pay attention it’s fine. Stop asking to be coddled and ride your bike.

  2. Vancouver – the future of Seattle’s bike share program, especially with a benighted mandatory helmet law…

    1. Gary

Bixi bicycle financial problems are not due to wearing helmets…. good grief.

  3. Sea

Ffs the amount of griping that people do regarding bike helmets is so disproportionate to anything.. Use your time and energy for something, anything else, and it will have been more worthwhile than bitching about a helmet.

@ Can saying “People on Bikes” Instead of “Cyclists” Make Biking Safer?
I now like to say I drive my bike. I drive my bike to work. I drive my car to work. I drive a commuting bike, a mountain bike and a sport bike. I drive a commuting car, a mountain car and a sports car. I’m the same asshole (or not) while driving a bike or driving a car.
    Same effect, fewer words.
