Tacoma celebrates missing link completion with ‘Sunday Parkways’

destination-point-defiance-route-map-1The Tacoma Parks is holding a nearly seven-mile “Sunday Parkways” event to celebrate the completion of their waterfront trail connecting downtown to Point Defiance Park.

The event runs from 8 a.m. until noon Sunday.

While we don’t typically cover Tacoma on this blog, this event sounds particularly awesome.

  1. Woah! I’ve biked to the Point Defiance ferry, and cursed this missing piece.
Coming back, the bus at times leaves riiight before you can get off the ferry. WHY?
At any rate, I’m psyched to hear this.

Everyone else is closing their missing links…

I was excited to hear that Schuster Parkway will be closed to car traffic for the event. If you’re like me and you’ve always wanted to bike on that road while NOT being ran over by the cars speeding at 60 MPH, or be relegated to the sidewalk and get a flat tire from broken glass and rocks, this is the event for you.
    Et vive les VeloFemmes!
