The New York Times recently launched an online tool to gather advice for people cycling in cities across the country.

Some similar to Seattle’s information-packed BikeWise website, the New York Times map is an effort to simply let people know about those little tips and secrets that make biking around town easier, faster and more enjoyable.

So add your tips to the map and explore a little. You might just learn something new about cycling in your city.

Editor’s note: In an effort to catch up on the huge amount of Seattle bike news stacked up in my to-do list, be looking for a bunch of short and sweet posts like this one in coming weeks.

Not sure how useful this will really be. Based on the comments so far you already have “location dots” in the wrong place, duplicate information, and poorly marked bike trails/bike lanes (not that Seattle is capable of marking a bike lane).

They need an overlay of “bike routes,” some kind of consolidation of duplicate comments, and a way for other people to flag incorrect locations or information.
