Bike Blotter: Suspicious package closes Burke-Gilman in Fremont + Tour de Banks suspect arrested

A suspicious package has closed the Burke-Gilman Trail near the Aurora Bridge. Unknown when it will reopen. Check back for updates.

UPDATE: It looks like no big deal (a weird wooden box thing?). Trail should be open shortly. UPDATE x2: Sounds like the object was a project of UW’s Center for Digital Arts and Experimental Media, whose projects sometimes tend to have wires coming out of them, someone connected with the program told me. UPDATE x3: SPD has more details.

Tour de Banks suspect arrested

A man who has allegedly been robbing banks via bicycle in the area has been arrested in Bothell. The so-called “Tour de Banks” robber is suspected of hitting eight banks since January before his bike-powered crime spree came to an end.

He typically wore a mask and was armed with a handgun or knife during the hold-ups which were mostly in Bothell and Woodinville.

Too bad, that art was the bomb.

How long will it be until someone states that all cyclists are bank robbers because one of them is?
