Weekend Guide: Tour de Watertower, Cyclefest, Velotopia + more

Saturday is shaping up to be a busy day for bike events around town.

Go Means Go’s infamous Tour de Watertower starts at 1. This is a grueling time trial that hits up many of the highest points in the city all in a row (check out the map). From Go Means Go:

As before, riders will be released minutes apart from one another so that each is facing only Seattle’s best climbs and their own limits. New for this year, we’ll be taking preregistrations , so you get you can get your start time before race day and not have to wait around. The first racer will be scheduled out the gate at one o’clock. Please plan to be at the start 10 minutes before your leave time to insure you can be checked in. You can still register in person on race day, but you will be given a slot after all the preregistered racers. Preregistration ends at 11:59pm, Thursday, July 21.

Registration is $10. Cash beyond expenses will join into a pot with other $$ for the fastest guys and gals. Payouts and depth will be determined based on participation. Get your friends to race, then win their money! We also have some non-cash prizes, too, details to come.

Cascade Bicycle Club is hosting a free bike party at Magnuson Park Friday starting at 5 p.m. BikeMania and CycleFest features events for kids, beer, BMX demos and a screening of le Tour. See our previous post for more info.

I am helping to host Velotropolis, a bicycle tour of the Central District. See our previous post for more info.

For the bike-riding yogis out there, Yo Cycle is hosting a ride with yoga, roadside repair tips and a discussion with bicycle lawyer Mimi Bailey. $39

Also Saturday, Seattle Bike Polo is throwing a party with bikes and music in Wallingford.

Do you know of anything else going on this weekend? Post in the comments!
