SeattleBikeBlog.com is your new comprehensive source for local bike news and commentary. While bike culture and bike racing are certainly necessary aspects of Seattle bike news, this site will mostly focus on issues facing anyone who uses the bicycle for transportation. The site will report about bike infrastructure, laws, activism, safety, fun events, interesting projects and whatever else Seattle bicyclists might need or want to know.

The site will also provide a forum for discussing bike issues. With thoughtful research and reporting, discussions will hopefully be able to dig deeper than the typical car vs. bike debate that takes over so many online discussions elsewhere.

Let me introduce myself. My name is Tom Fucoloro (résumé), and I am the founder/editor/designer of the site. I recently quit my day job to attempt to launch a career as a writer. My goal is to post an average of 4-5 posts per day throughout the day. Posts will range from investigative, long pieces to lighter, short commentary pieces about something I read/heard/thought/whatever.

I ride a 1983 Nishiki International road bike I bought on Craigslist for $175. It’s not the flashiest bike, but I love it and it gets me everywhere. I will not claim to be a gear nut or expert bike mechanic, but I have friends who are. I attempt to do my own bike maintenance (though I always seem to be behind), and I am constantly learning. I am a bike user and reporter, but not an expert.
