Come to The Bikery as we create a safer, more welcoming space for all people who identify as women, trans and femme to work on bicycles in supportive environment.
The shop will be open special hours for you to do maintenance and repair on your bike. No previous bike knowledge is necessary!
The Bikery empowers Seattle bicyclists and encourages cycling through collaborative hands-on education, social engagement, and fun.
The Bikery operates on donations and volunteer power and a suggested $5-10 donation for stand time and tool use helps us keep our doors open.
*More info on this event and the need for it:
Bicycle maintenance has traditionally been an overwhelmingly (cis)male-dominated area. It is our goal to help individuals who have been marginalized or intimidated in this setting to be knowledgeable and confident working on their bikes in a welcoming environment.
This event is open to anyone who identifies as female, transgender, femme, genderqueer, trans-masculine, trans-feminine, or feels that their socialization or treatment as a woman/transperson/femme has impeded their participation in bicycle mechanics.
If you are not women, trans, femme identified, please be an ally by visiting The Bikery during regular hours.
