Details from the event page:

Perhaps one of the greatest endurance cycling events on the planet, the Transcontinental Race is full of challenging climbs, great scenery, interesting culture, sleep deprivation, big trucks and packs of mean dogs giving chase in the night. In 2015 the race was approximately 4400 km in length, with a midnight start on the cobblestone Muur of Geraardsbergen in Belgium, and an ending in Istanbul along the Bosphorus Strait. In 2016 the finish line was moved to Canakkale, Turkey in Asia. Racers rode either solo or as a pair through twelve countries and four checkpoints before reaching the finish line. In 2015 the checkpoints included the top of Mont Ventoux in France; the Strada dell’Assietta, in Italy; Vukovar in war torn northeastern Croatia; and Mount Lovcen in Montenegro. The 2016 checkpoints were Clermont-Ferrand/ Col de Ceyssat in France; the Grosse Scheidegg, Grimsel Pass and Furka Pass (as a trio of climbs) in Switzerland; Passo Giau in the Dolomites of Italy; and Durmitor in Montenegro.
