Ride Description:
Cycling out of Sumner (COOS) Getting ready for a long ride? Consider COOS.

Starting in April and running through June, a series of free group rides will occur every Saturday (except May 30th) leaving from either the Sumner Fred Meyer or the Bonney Lake P & R. The start times will vary depending on the route length. The routes will be in the South King and Pierce County area, starting at 30 miles with minimal elevation and becoming progressively longer with more elevation. Most rides will be in the 50 – 80 miles range with a 100-mile ride coming in June. Three paces offered — steady (12 – 14 mph on flats), moderate (14 – 16 mph on flats) and brisk (16 – 18 mph on flats). All pace groups will use a common route each week.

You may join as many rides as you like. Please RSVP at Cascade Meetup, this helps us determine the appropriate number of ride leaders. Plan to arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the start time to hear the route briefing, safety presentation, and sign the waiver form for an on-time departure.

Mechanicals/Pace: Riders should be able to sustain the appropriate pace for their selected group, know how to read a cue sheet, change a flat tire (and have the requisite equipment to do so) and have a positive attitude. Ride Leaders and Sweeps will not stop long for flats or mechanical issues due to group safety. Faster riders are welcome to join but for them the ride becomes self-guided.

Cue Sheets: Please print your own cue sheet, cue sheets will not be available at start. The final route and cue sheet will be available on Cascade.org and Meetup.com the weekend prior to each ride. Rest stops: Will be planned as noted on the route cue sheet.

Equipment: A good headlight and taillight recommended. Long fenders are required for a chance of rain above 0%. Helmets are required to ride.

Regroup policy: We will ride with the best interest of the group in mind. We will regroup at the top of hills for a reasonable amount of time as well as at major turns. Stops will be brief. Riders may need to fall back to a slower pace group if they fall behind. If you are riding in the last pace group and are unable to continue or keep up, the Ride Leaders may not be able to stay with you so you need to have someone you can call to come get you. We want everyone to have fun and get back safely. Please print your contact information clearly on the waiver form in case we need to reach you for any reason. This is especially true in case of emergency. Minors must be accompanied by parent or guardian and have permission of the ride director prior to the start.

Cancellation Policy: Ice/Snow or otherwise unsafe riding conditions will cancel.
