The days are getting shorter and wetter, but that won’t stop you!

We know that with the right gear and some fuel, Seattle riders will make it out in any weather. Get your winter bike season started right, join Commute Seattle for the 4th annual Light Up Your Ride bike safety event.

This year we are partnering with Washington Bikes to co-promote the Ride in the Rain Challenge (#RideintheRain), a November bike challenge to build community and confidence during the rainiest month of the year.

Stop by on November 3rd between 7 am – 9 am.  You’ll find us at the beginning of the Westlake bike path and the Discovery Park bridge (Westlake Ave. N and 9th Ave. N) with donuts from Healthy Creations, bike light demos and coupons from Velo Bike Shop, great raffle prizes from Zipcar Seattle, WA Bike Law, Commute Seattle, and swag from SDOT’s Vision Zero safety program.

While you are enjoying a warm donut and hot coffee you can add more visibility to your bike at the Light Up Your Ride table. We’ll have lights, tape and reflective paint to make sure you and your bike are visible this winter.

Need bike buddies to get you motivated? Share this flier, or Facebook post and bring your friends to the event! Its a great way to kick of your #RideintheRain Challenge!

Are there really serious commuters heading downtown who need this or is this aimed at the wrong demographic? Would this funding be better aimed at neighborhoods with lower incomes or around our universities?

Serious commuters need doughnuts and coffee. I went out of my way to get them and got some cool free reflective gear, learned about an awesome reflective paint, saw a lot of new serious bike lights and got a free Pronto pass. They did forget bike racks though.
