Overall, I love it! Not wild about the advice to use bike lanes wherever possible, too many Seattle bike lanes are downright dangerous (door zone lanes, substandard width, wrong side, etc.). But she makes up for that by ignoring that poorly-placed door-zone sharrow and taking the center of the lane…
Avoiding the door zone is much more important safety advice than using bike lanes, and that shows in their recap.
I like how the drivetrain switches from right to left (3:13) and back again!
Helmet mirrors help a lot for city riding. Well worth the $12 or so.
Bike boulevards and greenways are not just places to “start and build confidence.” They are viable transportation routes, which is why we busted our asses to get them made for you.
Nice dismount at the end!
Yeah, I would love to see more mentions of quiet streets and neighborhood greenways as a place to start and build confidence. Bike lanes on arterials are often not the best option. But otherwise a great video!
Cyclists should signal turns by pointing in the direction they want to go. It’s much clearer and more natural than the ‘bent left arm’ method and more visible by people who you might be turning in to.
Love the cameo at 2:36.
