Tuesday: Ride with SBAB for a SE Seattle bikeability tour

Southeast Seattle desperately needs ambitious, family-friendly biking and walking routes. Tomorrow, you are invited to join the Seattle Bicycle Advisory Board and a slew of other biking and neighborhood organizations for a two-hour biking tour from the Mountains-to-Sound Trail to Brighton to Beacon Hill.

Rainier Valley is possibly the best candidate for a neighborhood greenway in the city (and there are lots of good ones!). Aside from the dream of a protected cycle facility on Rainier Ave, there is a popular signed bike route (dubbed “the zig-zag route” by many) that Tuesday’s ride will mostly stick to. With some enhancements for safety and ease of use, the route (or something similar) could be very successful at improving the bikeability of the valley.

We will congregate at Daejeon Park on the Mountains to Sound Trail at 6 p.m. and end the ride at El Quetzal on Beacon Ave at 8 p.m. for an hour of food and discussion of what we saw along the way. This ride is open to the public and attendance at both or either the ride and discussion is encouraged.

This is likely to be one really really wet and windy ride tonight.

No mention of the bikeability tour of Queen Anne/Interbay? http://blog.cascade.org/2012/05/two-bikeability-tours-coming/
    I hope there’s no bias!
